Alþjóðaráðstefna um ís í Reykjavík 1970
Alþjóðasamband um straumfræðirannsóknir,
International Association for Hydraulic Re-
search var stofnað í Briissel 1935. Þetta eru
sjálfstæð samtök verkfræðinga og vísindamanna
til að stuðla að framförum á öllum sviðum
vatna- og straumfræðirannsókna, hagnýtra og
fræðilegra. Sambandið hefur til þessa haldið 13
alþjóðaþing, og eru þau nú haldin annað hvert
ár. Það gefur út tímarit, skýrslur um starfsemi
rannsóknarstofnana í straumfræði, skýrslur um
þing og ráðstefnur o. fl. Til nánari samvinnu
á einstökum sviðum hafa verið stofnaðar átta
tækninefndir innan I.A.H.R.:
1. Committee on Hydraulic Machinery, Equip-
ment and Cavitation
2. Committee on Ice Problems
3. Committee on Maritime Hydraulics
4. Committee on Flow through Porous Media
5. Committee on Fluvial Hydraulics
6. Committee on Polyphase Fluids
7. Committee on Fundamentals
8. Committee on Water Resources Systems
Sumar þessara nefnda hafa haldið ráðstefnur
milli þinga I.A.H.R. Nefnd um ísvandamál
hélt fyrstu ráðstefnu sína, sem fjallaði urn ís
og áhrif íss á mannvirki, í Reykjavík 8.—10.
september 1970. Þátttakendur voru 114 frá 15
löndum og 14 af konum þátttakenda að auki.
Fundir voru haldnir í Hagaskóla. Eftirtalin er-
