Månnern mehr Lob erhalten als die Heiden, sondern sie errangen, was
am meisten wert sei, “eilftt riki me3 allsvaldanda gu3i utan enda” wie
Eirikr viSfprli. Mit anderen Worten: jeder, der sich so verhålt, erringt
nicht nur das Lob dieser Welt, sondern auch das ewige Leben mit Gott
im Jenseits.
Eirikr viSfgrli zieht in die Welt hinaus, um das Paradies zu suchen,
und findet es. Jeder Mensch, der Gott liebt, vollstandig auf ihn vertraut
und fur die Freiheit des heiligen christlichen Glaubens kampft, erringt
das Lob dieser Welt und das ewige Reich einer anderen Welt. Sicher-
lich wurde die Eiriks saga vidfprla “til ihugunar og eftirbreytni” ganz
vorne in die Flateyjarbok gesetzt und mit einem Nachwort versehen,
um sie und das ganze Buch besser verståndlich zu machen. Doch die
Eiriks saga vidfprla samt Nachwort hat eine weitaus allgemeinere Be-
deutung als Olafur Halldorsson und Rowe annehmen. Ihre Deutung,
dafi hier nur auf die beiden Olafe — die Missionskonige — und ihren
Namensvetter Olåff Håkonarson verwiesen werde, greifit zu kurz. Jon
t>or3arson hat die Eiriks saga vidfprla, die Geschichte von der Suche
nach dem Paradies, deshalb ganz vorne in die Flateyjarbok gesetzt
und durch ein erklarendes Nachwort erganzt, weil jede Geschichte
— eine Reichsgeschichte Norwegens wie die Flateyjarbok ebenso wie
jede andere Geschichte — die Geschichte der Erlosung der ganzen
Menschheit ist, die Geschichte der Suche nach dem Paradies.
3. Die Flateyjarbok war nicht als Geschenk fur
Konig Olåff iv. Håkonarson gedacht
Es gibt iiberzeugende Argumente gegen die Annahme, dafi die Flat-
eyjarbok ein Geschenk fur Konig Olåff iv. Håkonarson sein solite
