Rights, the United Nations has
proclaimed that childhood is
entitled to special,care and as-
sistance,
Convinced that the family, as
the fundamental group of so-
ciety and the natural environ-
ment for the growth and well-
being of all its members and
particularly children, should be
aflorded the necessary protec-
tion and assistance so that it
can fully assume its responsi-
bilities within the community,
Recognizing that the child,
for the full and harmonious de-
velopment of his or her person-
ality, should grow up in a fam-
ily environment, in an atmos-
phere of happiness, love and
understanding,
Considering that the child
should be fully prepared to live
an individual life in society,
and brought up in the spirit of
the ideals proclaimed in the
Charter of the United Nations,
and in particular in the spirit of
peace, dignity, tolerance, free-
dom, equality and solidarity,
Bearing in mindthat the need
to extend particular care to the
child has been stated in the
Geneva Declaration of the
Rights of the Child of 1924 and
in the Declaration of the Rights
of the Child adopted by the
General Assembly on 20 No-
vember 1959 and recognized in

Convaincus que la famille,
unite fondamentale de la so-
ciete et milieu naturel pour la

dont elle a besoin pour pouvoir
jouer pleinement son róle dans
la communaute,
Reconnaissant que l’enfant,
pour l’epanouissement harmo-
nieux de sa personnalite, doit
grandir dans le milieu familial,
dans un climat de bonheur,
d’amour et de comprehension,
Considerant qu’il importe de
preparer pleinement l’enfant á
avoir une vie individuelle dans
la societe, et de l’elever dans
l’esprit des ideaux proclames
dans la Charte des Nations
Unies, et en particulier dans un
esprit de paix, de dignite, de to-
lerance, de liberte, d’egalite et
de solidarite,
Ayant present á I’esprit que la
necessite d’accorder une pro-
tection speciale á l’enfant a ete
enoncee dans la Declaration de
Geneve de 1924 sur les droits
de l’enfant et dans la Declara-
om Menneskerettigheder har
udtalt, at bøm har ret til særlig
omsorg og bistand,
er overbeviste om, at familien
som den grundlæggende enhed
i samfundet og naturlige ram-
me for alle sine medlemmers og
særligt bøms vækst og trivsel
bør gives den nodvendige be-
skyttelse og hjælp, sáledes at
den fuldt ud kan pátage sig sine
forpligtelser i samfundet,
anerkender, at bamet med
henblik pá fuld og harmonisk
udvikling af sin personlighed
bør vokse op i et familiemiljø, i
en atmosfære af glæde, kærlig-
hed og forstáelse,
finder, at bamet fuldt ud bør
forberedes til at leve sit eget liv i
samfundet og opdrages i lyset
af de idealer, der er udtrykt i De
Forenede Nationers Pagt, og
særligt i en atmosfære af fred,
værdighed, tolerance, frihed,
lighed og solidaritet,
tager hensyn til, at behovet
for at yde bamet særlig omsorg
er blevet fastsláet i Geneve-Er-
klæringen af 1924 om Bamets
Rettigheder og i Erklæringen
om Bamets Rettigheder vedta-
