priate assistance and,
unless it is considered
not to be in the best
interest of the child, in
particular, taking into
account his or her age
or situation, his or her
parents or legal
guardians;
(iv) Not to be compelled
to give testimony or to
confess guilt; to
examine or have
examined adverse
witnesses and to ob-
tain the participation
and examination of
witnesses on his or her
behalf under condi-
tions ofequality;
(v) If considered to have
infringed the penal
law, to have this deci-
sion and any
measures imposed in
consequence thereof
reviewed by a higher
competent, independ-
ent and impartial
authority or judicial
body according to
law;
(vi) To have the free as-
sistance of an inter-
preter if the child can-
not understand or
speak the language
used;
(vii) To have his or her pri-
vacy fully respected at
all stages of the pro-
ceedings.
3. States Parties shall seek to
promote the establishment of
laws, procedures, authorities
and institutions specifically ap-
plicable to children alleged as,
accused of, or recognized as
having infringed the penal law,
and, in particular:
presence de son

(v) S’il est reconnu avoir
enfreint la loi penale,
faire appel de cette
decision et de toute
mesure arretee en
consequence devant
une autorite ou une
instance judiciaire su-
perieure competentes,
independantes et im-
partiales, conforme-
mentálaloi;
■ (vi) Se faire assister gra-
tuitement d’un inter-
prete s’il ne comprend
ou ne parle pas la lan-
gue utilisee;
(vii) Que sa vie privee soit
pleinement respectee
á tous les stades de la
procedure.
3. Les Etats parties s’effor-
cent de promouvoir l’adoption
de lois, de procedures, la mise
en place d’autorites et d’institu-
tions specialement con^ues
pour les enfants suspectes, ac-
cuses ou convaincus d’infrac-
tion á la loi penale, et en parti-
culier: ’
juridisk eller anden
passende rádgiver,
medmindre dette ikke
anses for at tjene bar-
nets tarv, især i be-
tragtning af dets alder
eller situation, dets
forælđre eller værge;
(iv) ikke.at blive tvunget
til at afgive vidneud-
sagn eller tilstá skyld;
ret til at udspørge el-
ler fá forhort vidner,
som páberábes mod
bamet, og til for egen
regning og pá lige vil-
kár at fá vidner ind-
kaldt ogforhørt;
(v) hvis det anses for at
have begáet strafbart
forhold, at fá beslut-
ningen derom og en-
hver foranstaltning,
der er truflet som føl-
ge deraf, prøvet af en
højere kompetent,
uafhængig og upar-
tisk mynđighed eller
dømmende organ i
medførafloven,
(vi) at fá gratis bistand af
en tolk, hvis bamet ik-
ke kan forstá eller tale
det sprog, der anven-
des;
(vii) at fá sit privatliv re-
spekteret fulđt ud pá
alle stadier af sagsfor-
løbet.
3. Deltagerstateme skal søge
at fremme indførelsen af love,
fremgangsmáder, myndigheder
og institutioner, som er specielt
tilpasset bøm, der mistænkes,
anklages for eller anses for at
have begáet strafbart forhold,
hemnder især:
