Article 17
States Parties recognize the
important function performed
by the mass media and shall en-
sure that the child has access to
information and material from
a diversity of national and in-
temational sources, especially
those aimed at the promotion
of his or her social, spiritual
and moral well-being and
physical and mental health. To
this end, States Parties shall:
(a) Encourage the mass media
to disseminate information
and material of social and
cultural benefit to the child
and in accordance with the
spirit ofarticle29;
(b) Encourage intemational
co-operation in the produc-
tion, exchange and dis-
semination of such infor-
mation and material from a
diversity of cultural, na-
tional and intemational
sources;
(c) Encourage the production
and dissemination of child-
ren’sbooks;
(d) Encourage the mass media
to have particular regard to
the linguistic needs of the
child who belongs to a mi-
nority group or who is in-
digenous;
(e) Encourage the develop-
ment of appropriate guide-
lines for the protection of
the child from information
and material injurious to
his or her well-being, bear-
ing in mind the provisions
ofarticles 13and 18.
Article 18
1. States Parties shall use
their best efforts to ensure rec-
ognition of the principle that

mentale. A cette fin, les Etats
parties:
(a) Encouragent les medias á
diffuser une information et
des materiels qui presen-
tent une utilite sociale et
culturelle pour l’enfant et
repondent á l’esprit de
l’article29;
(b) Encouragent la coopera-
tion internationale en vue
de produire, d’echanger et
de diffuser une information
et des materiels de ce type
provenant de differentes
sources culturelles, natio-
nales et intemationales;
(c) Encouragent la production
et la diffusion de livres
pourenfants;
(d) Encouragent les medias á
tenir particulierement
compte des besoins linguis-
tiques des enfants
autochtones ou apparte-
nant á un groupe minori-
taire;
(e) Favorisent l’elaboration de
principes directeurs appro-
pries destines á proteger
l’enfant contre l’informa-
tion et les materiels qui nui-
sent á son bien-etre,
compte tenu des disposi-
tions des articles 13 et 18.
Article 18
1. Les Etats parties s'em-
ploient de leur mieux á assurer
la reconnaissance du principe

ale fra forskellige nationale og
intemationale kilder, særligt
sádanne, hvis formál er at frem-
me barnets sociale, ándelige og
moralske velfærd og fysiske og
psykiske sundhed. Med hen-
blik herpá skal deltagerstater-
ne:
(a) tilskynde massemedieme
til at udbrede information
og materiale, der er af soci-
al og kulturel værdi for bar-
net og i overensstemmelse
med ánden i artikel 29;
(b) tilskynde til internationalt
sámarbejde om produk-
tion, uđveksling og spred-
ning af sádan oplysning og
materiale fra forskellige
kulturelle, nationale og in-
temationale kilder;
(c) tilskynde til produktion og
udbredelse afbømebøger;
(d) tilskynde massemedieme
til at tage særligt hensyn til
de sproglige behov hos
bøm, der tilhører et min-
dretal eller en urbefolk-
ning;
(e) tilskynde til udvikling af
passende retningslinier for
beskyttelse af bamet mod
oplysning og materiale, der
skader dets velfærd, jf. be-
stemmelseme i artikel 13 og
18.
Artikel 18
1. Deltagerstateme skal be-
stræbe sig pá at sikre anerken-
delse af princippet om, at begge
