Handwritten periodical publications known
as sveitaiblöð, "parish magazines", flourished in
many parts of Iceland in the period 1875-1930.
One such publication was Kveldúlfur that circu-
lated from farm to farm in Kelduhverfi, a parish
in the northeast of Iceland, 1899-1900. It is
pointed out that most of the people associated
with this and other publications of the same
kind in Kelduhverfi, which were numerous,
were closely related.
