SUMMARY
Fourteen patients with Tarsal Tunnel
Syndrome in 18 feet were operated on at
Borgarspítalinn, University of Iceland, over
a 10-year period (1980-1989). All patients
presented with pain in the foot, 13 feet had
paresthesia. The follow-up time was on
average 3.5 years. The results of surgery are
satisfactory, as the symptoms disappeared or
were markedly reduced in 15 out of 18 feet.
Two patients did not improve after surgery,
and one could not be located. We conclude
that surgical release is a safe and effective
treatment for TTS.
