LÆKNAblaðið 2014/100 511 til þess að að geta betur lagt mat á árangur í þessum undirhópi sykursjúkra. Lokaorð Mikilvægt er að öðlast vitneskju um árangur kransæðahjáveitu- aðgerða hjá sjúklingum með sykursýki, enda sykursýki vaxandi heilsufarsvandamál og allt bendir til að þessi sjúklingahópur muni fara stækkandi. Niðurstöður okkar benda til að skammtímaár- angur eftir þessar aðgerðir sé góður, en samt lakari en þeirra sem ekki eru sykursjúkir. Þessar upplýsingar ættu að nýtast til þess að bæta árangur þessa sjúklingahóps enn frekar. Slíkt má gera með ýmsum hætti, til dæmis með því að fyrirbyggja fylgikvilla og þá sérstaklega varðveita nýrnastarfsemi, en nýrnaskaði er eitt helsta vandamálið eftir þessar aðgerðir hjá sykursjúkum.
