Janiropsis breviremis Sars, was collected for
the first time, in Icelandic waters, at the
coast of Vestmannaeyjar, south of the Ice-
landic mainland, in August 1967 (Sigurds-
son 1968). In the summer of 1971 and 1974,
it was also found at the coast of the volcanic
island Surtsey (Fig. 2).
