Framkvæmd hefur verið eftirskoðun á
öllum (24) sjúklingunum, sumum oftar en
einu sinni. Öllum hefur þeim farnazt vel,
svo sem lesa má á töflu IV. Engin óhljóð
heyrðust við hjartahlustun hjá 17 sjúkl-
ingum, en hjá 7 þeirra heyrðust minni-
háttar systolisk óhljóð. Það er ekki óal-
gengt, að systoliskt óhljóð heyrist eftir
lokun á ductus arteriosus, án þess að um
hjartagalla eða enduropnun á ductus sé
að ræða. Reid og fleiri (1964) telja að
víkkun á lungnaslagæðinni geti valdið
þessu óhljóði. Bæði hjartarafrit og brjóst-
mynd hafa færzt í eðlilegt horf hjá mörg-
um sjúklingum, sbr. töflu IV, en aðrir hafa
breytingar, er væntanlega hverfa ekki.

SUMMARY
Operations at the University Hospital Land-
spitalinn for Ductus Arteriosus Persistens dur-
ing the period 1962-1972 are described.
This concerns a total of 24 patients, 18 girls
and 6 boys (3:1). 7 of the patients had histories
of repeated infections of the respiratory organs,
8 patients had symptoms of heart failure and
most of these had actually had repeated in-
fections of the respiratory organs.
14 (58%) of the patients had had no symp-
toms.
There is no post-operative mprtality.
All these patients have been subject to follow-
up examination, some of them more than once,
and none has any signs of recanaiization.
