Industrial Product Design —
A Growing Acttvity Sector p. 3
Leader by Thorir Einarsson
Mr. Einarsson points out, that indus-
trial product design has always been
on a low level in this country, mainly
due to the insulation of our manufac-
turing índustry within walls of tarifs
and restrictions. Such design work
from esthetical and practical view is
very important in sales competition,
especially in the export trade.
In recent months a praisable drive
on the design activity has taken place
f. inst. with the recent Packaging
Design Competition arranged by the
Federation of Icelandic Industries, see
an illustrated report on pp. 17—20 in
this number.

exemption from sales tax and import
duties on building materials, the
building costs could be reduced by as
much as 30%.

tests of fibres at his institute. These

tance of fibres, tests of carpets and
quality of materials and threads.
