EFNASAMSETNING ÚRKOMU Á VATNAJÖKLI OG
EFNAAÐSKILNAÐUR SAMFARA HLUTBRÁÐNUN
SNÆVAR.
Uppruna helstu uppleystra efna í úrkomu á Islandi
má rekja til sjávar nema hvað hluti súlfats í úrkomunni
er líklega til kominn vegna mengunar. Meðalsýrustig
íslenskrar úrkomu er 5,4. Sölt í snjó frá Vatnajökh
eru fyrst og fremst ættuð úr sjó. Styrkur klóríðs 1
snjó frá Grímsvötnum jafngildir því að einn dropi af
sjó blandist 19000 dropum af hreinu vatni. Styrkur
salta í snjó á Vatnajökli sem safnað var í júní 1988,
eykst með hæð yfir sjávarmáli, þveröfugt við það sem
almennt gildir um úrkomu á íslandi og annars stað-
ar. Meðalstyrkur salta í snjólaginu frá 1987-1988 a
Grímsvatnasvæðinu er tvisvar til þrisvar sinnum meiri
