mál við samtengingu lýsigagna á veraldarvefnum. Hér er því
verk að vinna og hugsanlega getur samvinna Landskerfsins
og Rekstrarfélagsins á endanum leitt til samræmdari skrán-
ingar og efnisorðagjafar á vettvangi aðildarsafna þeirra.

Collaboration between the Consortium of Icelandic
Libraries and Sarpur Management Company
The article discusses the collaboration of two undertakings,
the Consortium of Icelandic Libraries and the Sarpur Manage-
ment Company, as regards the operation of the companies,
specialised IT systems and user services provided on a
national level for libraries and cultural heritage institutions in
Iceland. The Consortium of Icelandic Libraries operates the
union catalogue for Icelandic libraries, Gegnir, and the
national discovery portal http://leitir.is/. The Sarpur Manage-
ment Company operates the cultural-historical database
Sarpur. To cite an example of the results of the collaboration,
the paper discusses a project that involved making data
(metadata and links to images) published on the open
website of Sarpur, http://www.sarpur.is/, accessible through
the national discovery portal, http://leitir.is/, which already
contained the data of libraries and several photograph
collect ions in Iceland.
