The purpose of the paper is to collect into one all available information
on soil temperature measurements in Iceland.
After a general introduction to the subject the reader is referred to some
of the more important papers dealing with soil temperature studies in the
Arctic and sub-Arctic.
The introduction is followed by a survey of previously published soil
temperature data (Tables 1—4), mostly collected by the Meteorological Bureau
