NÁTTÚRUF RÆÐINGURINN

Mér þykir rétt að geta þess, að langfótungurinn, sem veiddist í
Skeiðarárdjúpi sumarið 1967, var lifandi þegar hann veiddist. Hann
er nú til sýnis í Náttúrugripasafni Vestmannaeyja.
Það sem hér hefur verið sagt um langfótunginn, einkenni hans og
útbreiðslu, er að verulegu leyti byggt á grein eftir dr. Isabellu
Gordon, sem birtist í „Nature" 1956 (vol. 178, pp. 1184—1185).
SUMMARY
Paromola cuvieri (Risso), a Crab new to Iceland
by Finnur Gudmundsson
On July 29th, 19(i7 a specimen of Paromola cuvieri (Risso) was caught in
Skeidarárdjúp off the soutli coast ol' Iceland (depth about 200 m). This is the
first recorcl of this Lusitanian species in Icelandic tvaters. Tlie specimen is
now on exliibition in the Natural History Museum on the Westman Islands,
S.-Iceland. It appears to have been a rather small individual as the length oí
the carapace was only 10.5 cm and its breadth 8.0 cnt. I am indebted to
Dr. Isabella Gordon of the British Museum (Natural History), London, for
identification of the specimen.
