TWENTY-THIRD CONVENTION
of the Lutheran Women’s League,
held in Sunrise Lutheran Camp, Husavick, Manitoba,
June 22—24, 1947.
Dedication of Memorial Hall—The recently erected memorial hall
was dedicated Sunday, June 22, by Rev. E. H. Fafnis, president of our
Synod. The service was conducted by Rev. Skuli J. Sigurgeirson and the
sermon preached by Rev. Bjarni A. Bjarnason. The Arborg Church Choir
rendered anthems with Mr. Herman Feldsted as soloist and Mrs. Magnea
Sigurdson as pianist. Rev. Sigurgeirson read the Scroll which included
the names of those fallen service-men of both world wars, in whose
memory donations had been given toward the Memorial Fund. Several
memorial gifts were presented for the hall, including the lovely flowers
that adorned the altar.
The formal opening of the convention was then performed bv Mrs.
Ingibjorg J. Olafsson, president of the Lutheran Women’s League.
Lunch was served to the gathering of two hundred and fifty under
the supérvision of the executive and camp committee of the L.W.L.

Address of Welcome—Mrs. Ingibjorg J. Olafsson.
1. Address—Rev. Eric Sigmar, pastor, Argyle district.
2. Address—Rev. Egill H. Fafnis, president, Icelandic Synod.
3. Presentation—Rev. Fafnis presented a Pulpit Bible to the L.W.L.
for the Memorial Ilall, from the Ladies’ Aid at Grund, in memory of
a deceased member, Mrs. Kristín Christopherson.
4. Vocal Solo—Mrs. H. Franks, assisted by Miss Miller, both of Gimli.
5. Paper—“New Horizons”—Miss Margaret Nix, Director of Public
Health and Welfare in Manitoba. The speaker was introduced by
Mrs. H. G. Henrickson and thanked by Mrs. O. Stephensen.
6. Piano Solo—Miss Allison Miller, Gimli.
7. Vocal Solo—Little Lorna Stefanson, accompanied by Mrs. Anna
Stevens, Gimli.
8. Paper—“Christian Leadership”—Mrs. Lena Thorleifson, Langruth.
