must be assumed. We see that k 2= i/2 is prac-
tically out of the question; with such a value
for k one cannot get an acceptable intersec-
tion together with sufficiently high maximum
beaches. For ym = 125 m we can similarlv hard-
ly get a fit by increasing k to about 1 or
more. We need a greater ym. Taking ym = 135
m we see from Table II that k should be be-
tween 1 and 3/2. A curve in this range gives
a satisfactory fit. Tlie point of intersection lies
between 8500 and 8300 B.P. if we use Si and
between 8800 and 8500 B.P. if we use S2.
Further, the relative maximum on Si at 11.000
B.P. is in good agreement with the date for
the liighest beaches.
