30/3 Skoruvík 1800 z: An unbroken ice edge
visible in the distance from Svínalækjartangi to
Fontur (Langanes).

The average distance of ihe ice eclge NW of
Cape Straumnes xvas 50—60 miles, while at the
begin of month the ice had almost blocked the
NE-ern coasts, as the distance of the boundaries
of very open pack ice was only 13 miles off
Cape Rauðanúpur.
J/4 Coastal Guard Flight: The ice edge was
running from 6640/2600 to 6708/2400 to 6700/
2330 to 6715/2315 to 6720/2200 to 6655/2010
to 6705/1930 to 6630/1815 to 6645/1810 to
6645/1640 to 6700/1400 to 6800/1200. The
coverage near the ice edge was 1/10 to 3/10
but about 60 miles farther out concentration
was 7/10 to 9/10.

main ice edge is 60 miles off Cape Horn.
2/4 Esja m/s 0800: A strip of ice i/9 mile
in diameter observed with radar 15° true 4.5
miles off Rauðanúpur. Small blocks and brash
in the sailing route from Rauðanúpur to
Hraunhafnartangi.
2/4 Visibility is bad and the coastal stations
as Grímsey and Raufarhöfn only reports some
small blocks close to the shore.
5-10/4 Ships still report icebergs and bergv
bits around 6607/2126 (on Húnaflói).
