Islenskt mál og almenn málfmði (‘Icelandic Language and General Linguistics,), published annual-
ly by íslenska málfræðifélagið (‘The Linguistic Society of Iceland’), carries original research arti-
cles on all aspects of Icelandic and general linguistics, as well as overview articles, short notices
and discussion papers on linguistic matters, descriptions of research projects, reviews, book
notices, and bibliographies. The papers are typically in Icelandic, accompanied by a summary in
English or other major language and keywords for indexing. Contributions in English, German,
or the Scandinavian languages are also welcome. These will then be accompanied by a summary
in English and Icelandic.
Manuscripts for submission should be sent to the editors. All manuscripts are evaluated by the
editors. The categories greinar (‘articles’) and umræðugreinar, athugasemdir og flugur
(‘discussion papers, comments, and squibs') are refereed. All articles submitted for these cate-
gories are subject to written evaluation by two competent referees in a double-blind evaluation
process. The author will receive (anonymous) evaluations by the two referees, as well as an eval-
uation by the editor, and if the paper is accepted, the author will submit a revised version of the
article. The acceptance of an article is, therefore, always based on the review of three scholars.
Other categories are not refereed. Instructions for manuscript submissons are found at
http: // malfraedi.is/.
