Alit sjúklinga á gæðum hjúkrunar á lungnadeild

Tilgangur rannsóknarinnar var aö kanna álit sjúklinga á gæöum hjúkrunar á Landspítala-háskólasjúkrahúsi á
Vífilsstöðum. Alit sjúklinga á gæöum hjúkrunar var skilgreind sem sjúklingaánægja. Rannsóknin er lýsandi,
megindleg þverskuröarrannsókn. Alit sjúklinga á gæöum hjúkrunar var metið meö útfærslu á „Caring
Behaviors Assessment" mælitækinu. Þátttakendur voru einnig beönir aö meta aðbúnað á deildinni. Þátttak-
endur voru allir þeir sem útskrifuöust af lungnadeild á tímabilinu október til desember 2001. Alls voru send-
ir út 128 spurningalistar og svöruöu 93 eöa 73%. Aðeins var tekið tillit til svara þeirra sem voru meö lungna-
sjúkdóma (n=62) en sjúklingar sem lögðust inn vegna svefnvandamála (n=31) voru undanskildir.
Niöurstööur sýna aö ánægja meö hjúkrun var mikil. Af stökum þáttum var mest ánægja meö að hjúkrunar-
fræðingar kynnu á tækin. Af hinum 7 flokkum mælitækisins reyndist mest ánægja meö flokkinn aðstoö viö
mannlegar þarfir. Þessir þættir hafa einnig reynst meöal þeirra mikilvægustu í öörum rannsóknum. Karlar voru
almennt ánægöari en konur og sömuleiðís reyndist eldra fólk ánægðara en þaö yngra. Menntun og búseta
höföu ekki áhrif á ánægju meö hjúkrun. Ekki reyndist vera samband milli gæða hjúkrunar og aðbúnaöar viö
dvalartengda þætti, þaö er alvarleika veikinda, ástæöu innlagnar og fjöldi legudaga á lungnadeildinni.

The purpose of the study was to explore the attitude of patients towards quality of nursing care at the Land-
spítali University Hospital, Vífilsstaöir, lceland. The way patients perceive quality of nursing care was defined
as patient satisfaction. The study is descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional. A modified version of the
Caring Behaviors Assessment (CBA) tool was used. Ancillary factors were also measured. The participants were
patients discharged from the pulmonary unit during October to December 2001 (N=128). The response rate
was 73% (n=93). Results are based on the answers from patients diagnosed with pulmonary diseases (n=62).
Patients with sleeping disorders (n=3l) were excluded.
Results show that patients were generally satisfied with the quality of nursing care. Most satisfaction was
generated from the skills of the nurses in handling the equipments and the least satisfaction with the item
explaining safety measures. Of the CBA's seven factors, human needs assistance scored the highest. These
results are concurrent with various other studies. Men were more satisfied than women and older people were
more content than the younger ones. Education and residency were not significantly related to perception of
quality of patient care. Neither was there a relationship between the perception of quality of care and ancill-
ary factors and the number of admissions, length of stay, seriousness of disease and reasons for admission.
It is concluded that the quality of nursing care is high from the point of view of the patients. Further ex-
ploration of the items is recommended to facilitate dialogue on quality care from clinical and methodological
perspectives.
