Fljótt á litið gæti mynd þessi virzt vera af gosi. Svo er þó ekki. Skógar- höggsmenn í Norður-Ameríku renna trjástofnunum á dráttarbraut frá fjalls- rótunum niður að vatninu. í hvert sinn er trjástofn steypist af dráttar- brautinni niður í vatnið, rís geysi- mikil og fögur alda á vatnsfletinum.
