Firvaldar í Fóroyum
Eintolkini eru navngreind av Niels L. Wolff, Kobenhavn.
Ormveran livir á Jóansoku-gotubrá (Plantago lanceo-
lata), har hon holar hloðini innan.* *).
Av tí, sum her er skrivað, sæst sikilliga, at teir fáu For-
oyingar, ið hug hava at leita eftir skordýrum m. a. til at
finna nýggj slog — teir koma at finna okkurt. Og tað er
eingin ivi í, at enn er nogd av 'silogum at finna og navn-
greina bert innan firvaldahópin í Fóroyum, tí so heldur
innan skordýraflokkin allan. Her liggur enn eitt ómetaliga
stórt og stuttligt arbeiði og bíðar eftir at verða gjórt'*).
SUMMARY
According to the Zoology of the Faroes12 32 species of Le-
pidoptera had been found in the Faroes up to 1926 (List I).
In 1953—54 the author of the present work Ihas been colleoting
Lepidoptera in the Faroes, mostly in the neigih'bourhood of Eiði,
Eysturoy. At the s,ame time collections belonging to other Faroese
were sought out. Some of the new species discovered in this way
have been identified in tihe Faroes, others were sent to Copenhagen
to 'be identified by Wilhelm van Deurs and Mr Niels L. Wolff,
both renowned Danish lepidopterologists.
Resulit: The number of Species of Lepidoptera has been in-
creased with 14, from 32 to 46 (List II).
Special studies of the Hepialus humuli seem to allow the follow-
ing conglusion:
In the 'Faroes, as in Slhetland, a very changeable variety of the
male Hepialus humuli is to be found. The variety is very like the
forma thuleus Crotch (hethlandica Staudinger) and ought to be
called: forma faeroensis.
