INTRODUCING NEW IN-
NOVATIONS
Póllinn, the fore runner of
Pólstækni was established
in 1966 as an electrical con-
tracters business. Póllinn„s
employees designed the first
battery charge control for
boats, cars and machinery,
which proved very popular
and are still being manufac-
tured.
In 1977 when microcom-
puter revolution spread
across the world,
Póllinn in conjunction with
Noröurtangi from ísafjörður,
decided to produce for fish
processing plants, electrical-
ly driven In-Take Scales. In
the designing of these scales
special consideration had to
be taken regarding the diffi-
cult conditions of the fishing
industry -water, salt and
heavy duty work. The scales
were completed at the begin-
ning in 1978 and were very
well received. As a result of
this project it was decided to
produce Electronic Packing
Scales. Late 1978 the first
Electronic Packing Scales
were put to use. This revolu-
tionized the packing of sea-
food products in the fish fac-
tories. These scales have re-
ceived many awards as
recognition for design.
PÓLS-TÆKNI was estab-
lished in
1986 and is responsible
for the manufacture of Com-
puterized Scales and Com-
puter Programs for fish proc-
essing plants and other in-
dustries. The company has
27 employees, 6 of whom
work in the Reykjavík branch
and are responsible for mar-
keting and servicing. The
main operation is in ísafjörö-
ur which we consider the
best place in the world for us,
due to our close connections
and proximity to most of the
aspects of the fishing indus-
try.
Póls-Tækni is presently
working
on the possibilities for the
so called production-line. At
present our main product is
conveyor belt scales for pro-
duction-lines. The scales are
available in an unbelievable
range.
Póls-Tækni has always
aimed to
introduce their newest in-
ventions at the lcelandic
Fisheries Exhibition in Reyk-
javík. In 1985 we introduced
and exhibited for the first
time ON BOARD SHIP
SCALES which are recog-
nised through out the world.
In 1987 there was a large in-
creese in the working of
prawns at which time we ex-
hibited a revolutionary clean-
ing machine for prawns, vol-
ume control for use with pro-
duction-lines, automatic
scales for bagging, etc.
At the lcelandic Fisheries
Exhibition in Reykjavík
1990 we will introduce our
new production-lines, al-
though we will primarily con-
centrate on showing the
Weight Selector machine
which we call Póls-Samval.
This machine has fifteen
compartments and the mi-
crocomputer in the machine
can be programmed for set
weights for each compart-
ment and the maximum and
minimum pieces allowed in
each compartment. It can
accurately weigh 15 to 20
portions in one minute. Our
new Póls-samval enormous-
ly increases the speed and
efficiency of packing. It is of
course, possible to use this
machine for all kinds of pack-
ing where a set number of
pieces is required for a set
weight. This is an lcelandic
machine.
