party which also included the English author Anthony Trol-
lope who described the voyage in his book "How the "Mas-

2208). On p. 480 there is a brief account of a stay in Tórs-
havn (with a sketch "Thorshavn" on p. 431)>

ljóðar mín tunga", Tórshavn 1995. Contains some general
remarks about the Faroe Islands, chapters on traditional mu-
sic in the Faroe Islands (including Faroese dance), Kvæði
(heroic ballads), Vísur, Tættir, Kingosálmar (Hymns) and
Skjaldur (Rhymes for children). With a great number of tra-
ditional songs with notes and text, partly translated into
English. The book is accompanied by a CD and tape record-
ing. Originally intended as a school book, it is far more than
that and provides an informative overview of Faroese musi-
cal traditions and achievements>
