<The "Adressubók" was not a "directory" in the original
meaning of the word, but an early attempt of promoting the
Faroese economy. The "Adressubók", published with the
support of the Løgting, is a comprehensive and detailed
handbook containing general descriptions of the islands, of
Faroese economy, of the Faroese system of taxation and
customs and a directory of Faroese authorities and traders
of all fields of business. It was published in seven editions
from 1925 to 1948 and contained texts in Faroese, Danish,
English, German, French and Spanish. The chapter "The
Faroe Islands" is an informative outline of the history and
present situation of the Faroes and contains a description of
the more important settlements>
