260 LÆKNABLAÐIÐ LÆKNABLAÐIÐ English Index 1969 Læknablaðið is published jointly by the Icelandic Medical Association and the Medical Association oí Reykjavik; it appears bimonthly, six issues covering a yearly volume. Original articles are as a rule summarized in English, but it is the intention of the Editors to provide foreign readers with a yearly English index as well, briefly summarizing original papers. Reprints are obtainable from LÆKNABLAÐIÐ, Domus Medica, Reykja- vik, Iceland. Originai articles will also be provided in translation for a small fee. The EDITORS. Vol. 55:1; February 1969: pp. 1—13: Þorsteinsson, E.: Operations for Otosclerosis. A -survey of the clinical, anatomic, otologic and surgical aspects of operations for otosclerosis followed by a short report on the author’s results in first 33 stapedial operations; with an overall improvement in hearing in 90% of the patients. pp. 15—35: Valdimarsson, H. Þ., Stefánsson, J. G., Agnarsdóttir, G.: Medi- cal Services in a Country District. During a two year period the authors meticulously registered visits, consultations, referrals, diagnoses, treatments and drug usage in a typical Icelandic rural community of 1643 inhabitants. The results of this investi- gation are taibulated in 14 tables. pp.36—39: Einarsson, S. R.: Contraceptive Intrauterine Device. Description of a new Danish IUD, “Polygon”. Vol. 55:2; April 1969: pp. 45—53: Gíslason, P.: Aneurysma Aorta abdominalis. Report on operated abdominal aortic aneurysm in a 58-year old woman with complete resection of aneurysm preceded by a general description of prognosis and treatment of patients with aneurysms of the abdominal aorta. pp. 55—63: Valdimarsson, H. Þ., Haraldsson, E., and Guðnadóttir, M.: Coxsaekie B- Epidemic in a rural District. A viral epidemic in a rural district due to coxsackie B- virus is described, ciinical features and incidense in different agegroups. A brief account is given of 7 patients who had serious complications. Vol. 55:3; June 1969: pp. 75—83: Magnússon, S.: Aplastic Anaemia following Administration of Chloramphenicol Six out of 15 patients admitted to the University Hospital in Reykjavik, Iceland, during 1957—1966 with aplastic anaemia had prior history of having used chloramphenicol.
