TRAVEL FELLOWSHIPS

Applications are invited from established cancer research workers
for travel fellowships to be awarded by the International Agency for
Research on Cancer during 1974.
The fellowships are intended to provide opportunities for visits to
other institutions for consultation, collaborative planning of research
projects, and the acquisition and standardization of new research tech-
niques. Programmes that are purely clinical in nature are not acceptabie.
A clear research theme must be evident in the application.
Applicants must be actively engaged in cancer research and should
be qualified in natural or medical sciences. In particular, they shouid
be on the staff of a university or research institution. Fellows must have
an adequate knowledge, both written and spoken, of the language of the
country in which they propose to make visits. Travel fellowships will
be awarded for a maximum period of three months and may be spent
in one institution or in several institutions which may be all in one
country or in different countries.
It should be noted that travel fellowships will not be granted to
support participation in congresses and symposia, neither are they in-
tended to supplement funds for sabbatical leave.
The fellowships will cover the cost of travel to approved centres
and an appropriate allowance towards the cost of accommodation and
other incidental expenses.

Applications will be reviewed in February, May, September and
December. The closing dates for receipt of applications will respectively
be 31 January, 30 April, 31 August and 30 November 1974.
