Próun kransæðavíkkunaraðgerða hefur verið bylt-
ingarkennd undanfarna tvo áratugi. Tíðni þessara
aðgerða hérlendis er há miðað við fólksfjölda, árang-
ur hefur verið góður og jafnan kappkostað að taka
nýjungar í tækni og lyfjameðferð í notkun þegar þær
hafa sannað sig í erlendum rannsóknum. Kransæða-
víkkanir eru sérhæfðar hátækniaðgerðir sem eiga eft-
ir að þróast enn frekar á næstu öld. Aukin tækni,
reynsla og framfarir í meðferð hafa orðið til þess að
sá sjúklingahópur sem gagn hefur af kransæðavíkkun
fer ört vaxandi. Mikilvægt er að búið sé vel að þessari
meðferð hér á landi og vinnubrögð samhæfð.
