World distribution: Kjelvik in Finnmark south to Os-
tervágen in Hordaland (Halldis Ringvold pers.
obs.), Øresund, probably also at the Doggerbank in
the North Sea, the Murman Coast (Clark and
Downey 1992). The species is also reported south-
west of Ireland and is probably common all around
the British Isles except the south coast, Svalbard,
Siberian Sea, Iceland and Greenland; on the north-
east American side south to 44 N and probably also
in the Bering Sea.
World bathymetrical range: 0 to c. 800 m (Mortensen
1927)
Remarks: In the genus Leptasterias, like the genus
Henricia, there are large taxonomical problems to
be solved.
