Hér birtist síðari greinin um rannsóknir á
Bægisárjökli sumrin 1967 og 1968. í fyrri
greininni er m. a. lýsing á almennu veðurfari,
og sést glöggt, að sumarleysing jökulsins stafar
í senn af geislun, lofthita og loftraka (Helgi
Björnsson 1971). Hér er lýst, hvernig má finna
stærð liinna ýmsu orkuþátta og meta hlut þeirra
í leysingunni. Þrír þættir valda leysingu á
bráðnandi jökli: geislun og varmastreymi frá
röku og hlýju lofti yfir jökli.
Geislun
Geislun á jökli má flokka í tvennt. í fyrsta
lagi sólargeislun (stuttbylgjugeislun) og í öðru
lagi geislun frá skýjum og jökli (langbylgju-
geislun). Geislun sólar á láréttan flöt var fund-
in með geislamæli og eru niðurstöður birtar í
fyrri grein, mynd 5 og 6 (Helgi Björnsson 1971).
