Solitude during the day and impairment of short-term memory were similar in both akranes and Sauðárkrókur. about half of the clients in both locations suf- fered shortness of breath or breathing difficulty, the majority of clients felt tired (90%) and a third of the clients had a fall in the preceding 90 days. More clients in Sauðárkrókur needed assistance with medication. There was no significant difference in client al- location into MaPLe classes in akranes and Sauðárkrókur. The clients in Sauðárkrókur did not receive services in the evening from home care nursing and services neither in the evening nor in the weekend from the social home services. This type of services was however available in akranes. Conclusion: The results suggest that the interrai-hC initial as- sessment and MaPLe service categories could provide home care nursing and social home services with a good overview of clients health status and need for services.
