effects were judged by a modified UKU scale.
Sedation was scored on a four point scale.
All patients responded to treatment within 24 hours
as judged by the CGI-scale, but the only group
large enough to give statistically significant results
was the one with the diagnoses 296 and 296.2.
Side effects were minor. Sedation was seen one
to two hours after the first injection, reaching
maximum after eight hours.
The study demonstrated that zuchlopenthixol
acetate in Viscoleo®is effective in initiating
treatment of severely disturbed psychotic patients
and must be considered a useful addition to other
neuroleptic drugs.
