af sjúklingum með jámofhleðslu 450 ml
vikulega þar til B-blóðrauði var kominn niður
fyrir 110 g/1. Jámbirgðir vom metnar og
leiðréttar með 4 mg á dag vegna jámfrásogs
meðan á blóðtökutímabili stóð (23).

sex.

Response is the percentage of invited individuals examined at the Heart
Preventive Clinic in Reykjavik in cardiovascular studies. Investigated is
the percentage of individuals in whom B-Hemoglobin B-RBC, B-MCV,
S-lron, S-TIBC, and S-Ferritin were obtained.
Svömn í hópi A var svipuð í
aldursflokkunum 35-65 ára en aðeins lægri
meðal yngri og eldri einstaklinga. Meðalaldur
karla í hópi A var 51 ár á Reykjavíkursvæði,

The means are arithmetic means except for S-Ferritin were geometric means are used due to the skewed distribution of values.
Arithmetic means for S-Ferritin (/imol/L) were 171 in urban i males, 227 in rural males, 83 in urban females, and 100 in rural females.
The 95% ranges were dertermined with the percentile row method (23). The last column (p<0.05) indicates whether the difference between means of rural and urban groups is statistically significant at the 5% level.
