Ef talið er að allir þeir einstaklingar reyki, sem reykja eina sígarettu eða meira á dag, þá reykja alls 93 unglingar (18,6%) árið 1992. Hlutfallslega fleiri stúlkur reykja (21,4%) en piltar (16,2%), en munurinn er ekki tölfræðilega marktækur (p=0,13). Meðal þeirra sem reykja kemur í ljós að pilt- arnir reykja meira en stúlkurnar (p=0,004) (tafla IV). Áfengisneysla: Þrefalt fleiri piltar en stúlkur höfðu drukkið áfengi 1989. Munurinn var horf- inn 1992, en þá höfðu alls 77% drukkið áfengi (tafla V). Tæplega helmingur eða 222 af 500 (44,4%) hafði fundið á sér oftar en þrisvar; heldur fleiri stúlkur (n = 116) en piltar (n=106) (p<0,05). Alls kváðust 176 (35,2%) hafa orðið drukkin oftar en þrisvar og 123 (24,6%) höfðu dáið einu sinni eða tvisvar og 27 (5,4%) oftar. Kannabis/sniff og önnur vímuefni: Árið 1989 var neysla allra vímuefna annars en áfengis nær óþekkt, en þremur árum síðar höfðu alls 16 piltar (6%) og níu stúlkur (3,8%) prófað kannabisefni, flest einu sinni eða tvisvar (tafla IV). Svipaður fjöldi hafði sniffað og enn fleiri notað önnur vímuefni (tafla IV). Gefin voru stig eftir því hvernig spurningum í töflu IV um vímuefnaneyslu var svarað: Kannabisefni (l^t
