to anyone familiar with the Óláf Tryggvason material.
Finally, the Strmlzborg of 4859 seems to be half-way
between starlzborg A and strialsborg B. The leader of
the group from this place, however, is Marginus in 4859
which agrees exactly with the form in A as opposed to
Gorgönus in B.
3127
Lbs. 3127 (catalogue, “2. Aukabindi”, No. 258) is a
copy of 4859, not of A directly. Every one of the omissions,
additions, and other changes listed above for 4859 (and
others as well) is found in 3127. There are three exceptions:
idrast—ydrast A—ydrar 4859, af = A—ad 4859, and af =
A—a 4859. Other examples where 3127 agrees with A
as opposed to 4859 are very few, e.g. enn hann—hann A
(7:2)—og 4859, -kilfan = A (46:13)---kölfann 4859 (the
form in 3127 is no doubt influenced by its use in line 10).
In contrast to 4859, 3127 shows much less careful work in
general, and sometimes the changes in 4859 are themselves
changed. The following additional notes concerning the
examples referred to above are therefore necessary: fyrer
sinnar miöu A (14:4)--f- 3127; haller—folki A (71:5-8)—
haller enn minna hattar folke 3127; annann veg A (11:4)—
ecke odru uis 3127; hanz1—allt A (41:5-6)—hans merke
alt 3127; þurfa A (37:8)—þig fa 3127; og—roskleik A
(48:7)— -f- 3127; uidu A (48:11)—vid 3127; -manna A
(71:13)---sveinar 3127.
There are, of course, a good many other changes in
3127.1 shall cite only a couple of the more extreme exam-
ples to indicate the nature of the copy: stigreip—verdur
A (15:1-3)--f- 3127 \fiolmenni—manna A (25:5—27:6)—
fiölmenne og direr kongar 3127 (i.e., the whole list of
wedding guests is simply omitted!); sijnz—byriandi A
(69:14-15)—til sin biodande sijdann heim til Artus kongs
ridande 3127. As concerns the names, 3127 shows close
