Now Erex goes to Ithat man (this knight) who was lying unconscious on the ground (+ so close to death)—and his lady Evida—and they seek to save his life (+ now) as best they can. When he recovers consciousness, he thanks rthem (Erex) heartily for saving his life. TThen (+) they ask him 50 his name. He answers: “My name is Plato, Duke of Vigdæi- borg, sister’s son of Sir Walven of (+ King) Arthur’s court. This dragon seized me—sleeping—this morning from my shield, and my lady and Eervants (squires) are a short distance away from here searching for me. Now I give (+ all) my kingdom and myself into your power.” Now Erex thanks (+ almighty) God that He has rescued (+ by His [or Erex’?] hand) such a ígood (excellent) knight, because each of them fully recognizes the other, and there was there hi (now the most) joyful meeting íbetween them (-:-). There quickly come there Plato’s men and his sweetheart (+ she was now very) sad at his disappearance land she thought (thinking) him dead (+ now). When they saw íhis freedom and perceived him to be alive (him living) and find out how it has happened, they become happier than can be told—falling at Erex’ feet, Tthanking (and they thank) him lcmphatically (now greatly) for this victory and act of charity, offering him (+ also) their company and service. They are driving many horses loaded with precious treasures to a certain fcastle (hall) which stood a short distance from there—and on them [they drive] four knights bound and (+ all of them) wounded and four very lovely young ladies. (+ When) they see where Erex is riding, Tand immediately they (three) turn at him, but four rride (+) to the Tcastle (hall) to take care of rthe (their) booty.
