LÆK.NABLAÐIÐ 347 1) The cytological fine needle aspiration technique proved very valuable to increase the accuracy in diagnosing palpable breast masses found thro- ugh screening, thus diminishing the need for follow up visits. 2) Several cases of breast cancer which were clinically and radiographically benign were de- tected by means of fine needle aspiration. 3) Clinical suspicion of carcinoma of the breast was confirmed by aspiration biopsy which facilitated the handling of the patients by having establis- hed the diagnosis preoperatively.
