Leptorrhiny is certainly predominating in botli peoples, but
especially so in Iceland, provided that the author and Halfdan
Bryn have located nasion in the same manner.
The form of the n a s a 1 b r i d g e and the i n c 1 i n a-
t i o n o f s e p t u m may bee seen from the following figures:
Icelunders Norvvegia
Nasal bridge straight or slightly wavy 63,4% 62,6%
— — concave or snub-nose 33,7— 28,6—
— — convex 2,9— 8,8—
Nasal septum horizontal 64,8— 38,4—
-—• — upward 32,8— 60,2—
— — downward 2,4— 1,4—
As the inclination of septum is not easy to determine exact-
ly, the real differences may not be so great as the figures
indicate.
The measurements of the ears were the following:
Length of the ear
Breadth of the ear
Index of the ear
lcelanders
6,27 cm
3,58 —
57,1 —
Norvvegians
6,2 cm
3,5 —

C. Pigmentation.
The Icelanders are mostly light-coloured people, especially is
the colour of eyes and skin fair. In this respect there is probably
no great difference between the Norwegians (Drontheim dis-
tricts) and Icelanders.
a) C o 1 o u r o f t h e e y e s. When classified in the same
manner as Halfdan Bryn has done in The Anthropology of
the Drontheim districts (cfr. p. 206), the figures are the fol-
lowing:
R. Martin’s
Standard Icelanders Norvvegians
Blue eyes No. 14—16 65,8% 69,5 %
Greenish and mixed — 6—13 31,1— 18,0—
Brown eyes — 2—5 3,1— 12,5—
Bright eyes — 9—16 87,7— 81,2—
Dark eyes — 2—8 12,3— 18,8—
All eyes with greenish hue and where any trace of pigment
was to be found by the help of a magnifying glass were
classified as mixed.
