the east Núpsvötn, and the South-western border of Vatnajökull to where the river
Tungná has its sources. The northern boundary line is the upper course of Tungná
as far as its great bend north of Torfajökull, whence is drawn a line southward to
Torfajökull and across it to the northernmost point of Mýrdalsjökull. South of the
latter Jökull Jökulsá has been chosen as the boundary line.
District 10. South Iceland, western part. The coast from Jökulsá
south of Mýrdalsjökull to the mouth of ölfusá. The western boundary-line is made
up by Ölfusá-Hvítá as far as Gullfoss; to the north a line from Gullfoss to where
Tungná and Þjórsá unite, and from this point along Þjórsá to its great bend north
of Torfajökull. The eastern boundary line is the same as the western limit for
District 9.
District 11. Central Iceland, south of Hofsjökull and
Langjökull. The southern boundaries of this district are mainly made up
by the northern boundaries for districts 1, 10, and 9 (see map). The northern
boundaries are a line between Hofsjökull and Langjökull drawn across the volcano
Strýtur, a line between Hofsjökull and Tungnafeilsjökull across Sprengisandur, and
a line from Tungnafellsjökull across Vonarskarð to Vatnajökull.
District 12. Central Iceland, north of Langjökull. The bound-
ary line towards the north is the same as the western part of the southern boundary
line of District 4, from Friðmundarvötn to Hrútafjarðará at Grænamýrartunga. To-
wards the east Blanda from the place where it crosses the above-mentioned line to
its sources at Hofsjökull, is the district border. To the south and west the line is
drawn across the water-shed between Hofsjökull and Langjökull, and across Flosaskarð
from Hofsjökull to Eiríksjökull, and thence to Hæðarsteinn at Hrútafjarðará, and
farther to Grænamýrartunga.
District 13. Central Iceland, north of Hofsjökull. Towards the
north a line from Ullarvötn to Friðmundarvötn (see under District 4), and from
Ullarvötn to the river Skjálfandafljót (see District 5) forms the boundary-line. On
the west the district is bounded by District 12 (see this). The eastern border-line
is the upper course of Skjálfandafljót from where it crosses the southern boundary
of District 5 (see this) to its sources at Tungnafellsjökull; from there a line to the
north-eastern part of Hofsjökull, along the northern border of Hofsjökull to the
sources of the Blanda.
District 14. Central Iceland, north of Vatnajökull. In the
north a line from Grímsstaðir at Jökulsá á Fjöllum towards Vatnahjalli (see
southern boundary of District 5). The eastern boundary-line runs from Grímsstaðir
along Jökulsá and Kreppa up to Vatnajökull. To the south Vatnajökull forms the
boundary. The western boundary coincides with the eastern boundary of District 13.
District 15. Central Iceland, easternmost part. Towards the
north and east a line from Möðrudalur to Brú at Jökulsá (see District 7), and
thence to the northernmost point of Þrándarjökull. From Þrándarjökull to Hofsjökull,
and from there to the north-eastern point of Vatnajökull. To the south Vatnajökull
borders the district, while Kreppa and Jökulsá as far as Möðrudalur constitute the
western boundary.
