Very common throughout Iceland, except in the central highland where it has
only been observed in few places: Hveravellir, Fróðárdalur, Hvxtárvatn (J.Gr.,
1934).
Very variable; the following forms have been observed in Iceland:
f. hebecarþa Lindbl., with hairy pods.
f. leiocarþa Lindbl., with glabrous pods.
f. contorta Lindbl., with a usually unbranched, rigid stem and densely set leaves
f- gracilis Ledeb., with a usually slender, branched stem and few leaves.
Life-form: H.
In rock-fissures, on rock-ledges and grassy slopes.

Max. height: 42 cm; average: 14 cm.
Geogr. area: Am.: Northeastern parts. Newfoundland, Labrador, Quebec, Lake
