In Iceland the low, depressed form with appressed leaves, var. nana (Willd.)

parts it occurs rather sparsely, and may even be called rare. In E., N., N.W. and S.W.
it is frequent. In S. it has hitherto been found in a few places only. In the central
plateau I found it at Hvítárvatn on south slopes in several places, and at the foot
of Bláfell.
