Frequent to common in most parts of the lowland ; not recorded from the central
parts.
Life-form: G. (Rhizome Geophyte).
Often in abundance in a broad zone around ponds and smaller lakcs; in mýri and
flói. It is considercd a good fodder grass by the Icelandic farmers.

Max. height: 35 cm ; average : 20 cm.
Geogr. area: Am.: Northern N. Am., Hudson Bay, Quebec.—Eur.: S.; northern

This species was first found at Sandfell, S. (H.J., 1901). It was erroneously
determined as -C. þaniculata L., and was published as such by H. Jónsson, loc. cit.
It has later been found in another locality in S. Icel. Safamýri (cp. S.S., 1933,
p. 36).
