Icelandic: Eggjasjóður, öskugras.
This species, though not so common as Rh. minor, is rather widely distributed
in the lowland, but, like Rh. minor, it does not seem to have been found in the
central parts. See fig. 155.
The var. Dr.ummond-Hayi (Buch. White) Ostf., with simple stem, 5—10 cm
high, leaves narrow and bracts smaller, both generally with short unicellular hairs
on the upper surface. Calyx and capsule smaller, the former often with short
unicellular hairs. Cp. C.H.O., loc. cit., p. 55.—Found in several places.

Rhinanthus glaber Lam.
R. major Ehrh., Preyer & Zirkel, 1861, p. 362.—Babington, 1871, p. 320.
This species is entered in Preyer & Zirkel’s list, loc. cit., without locality, cp.
also Babington, loc. cit.—I. Óskarsson (1933, p. 43) records it from Akureyri, where
in the summer of 1932 he found specimens up to 72 cm high growing in a corn-
field. Evidently this is an accidental introduction.
