Common in all parts of the lowland, and also found in several places of the
central highland where it may be supposed to be rather common. Very variable
(cp. I.Ó., 1927, p. 427) especially in the hairiness of the leaves and stems as also
of the pods.
var. leiocarþa O. E. Schulz, with glabrous pods, occurs here and there.
Life-form: Ch.
In poorly cultivated home-fields, on earthen walls and roofs of houses, in grass-moors,
fell-field, in nearly all kinds of dry soil.

Icelandic: Vorperla. Danish: Vaar-Gæslingblomst. English: Common Whitlow-
grass.
Common in N. and S.W.; also occurs frequently in E. In N.W. it is found at
Staður on the south coast (H.J., 1915). From S. it has not yet been recorded.
In the interior it is recorded from Ódáðahraun (S.S., 1932). Evidently more
common than the records indicate, because of its early flowering.
Life-form: Th.
On earthen walls, in poorly cultivated home-fields, on foot paths and along roads,
on dry slopes, grass-moors.
