Icelandic: Tjarnalaukur. Danish: Liden Strandbo. English: Shoreweed, Shore Grass.
According to Babington, loc. cit., there is amongst Solander’s collection of Ice-
landic plants in the British Museum a specimen of L. uniflora, but no locality is
given. It was found in 1907 by Helgi Jónsson at Hamar and in some other localities
in the neighbourhood of Gaulverjabær, S.
Later on it has been found in several other
places in S., especially in the country be-
tween ölfusá and Þjórsá (Flói), where it
would seem to be rather common, cp. H.J.,
1913, p. 32. See fig. 160. It sometimes oc-
curs in great abundance, entirely covering
the bottom of shallow waters.
Life-form : H. (HH.).
In shallow water, on mud along the shores
of lakes, in dried-up ponds, etc.
Flor. VII—VIII; fr. mat. (?).
Max. height: 3 cm ; average : 1.5 cm (flower
stalks!) ; leaves up to 12 cm long.

and Minnesota, Nova Scotia, Ontario.—Eur.: Fær.; E.S.I.; from northern Scandi-
navia and Russia to central and southern Europe.
Plantago Coronopus Linn.
K. & M., 1770, p. 305,—Vahl, 1840, p. 374.—Babington, 1871, p. 323.
This plant is recorded by König & Miiller, loc. cit.; Vahl had doubts about
its being found in Iceland, but it is entered in all the other older lists. No speci-
mens are in evidence, and it might be safer to exclude it from the Icelandic Flora.
