Exceedingly rare in Iceland; found with certainty near Reykjavík, S.W. (Holm
and Warming, 1884, Stefánsson, 1889). Specimens from this locality are kept in
H.H. and H.R. Some other records are based on an erroneous determination of
M. arvensis.

In dry, sunny places.

Max. height: (19 cm).
Geogr. area: Eur. : E.S.I. ; from northern Scandinavia southward throughout Europe,
eastward to the Volga.—Asia : Persia, Mesopotamia.—N. Africa.
