Lundström, but it is presumably yellow
as in the main form. Cp. Lundström, loc.
cit., Tab. I, fig. 2.
Lundström, too, distinguishes two
other forms of the Icelandic plant, viz.:
a. P. radicatum Rottb. (p.p.) f. tyþicum
E. Lundstr.: Leaves usually long-petiolate,
rather thin; stem and leaves with white
or daik hairs. Capsules more or less sub-
cylindric-ellipsoidal. The withered petals
remaining at the base of the mature
capsule. Cp. Lundstr., loc. cit., tab. 2,
fig. I a. Found in a few places in N.W.
b. P. radicatum Rottb. (p.p.) f. tyþicum
Lundstr. ? subf. islandicum E. Lundstr.:
Plant with + grayish-green leaves and
large, pretty pink (rosy-white) flowers.
Lundstr. is not sure that this variety be-
longs to the f. typicum as he has seen
no specimens in fruit. Found in N.W.
Gufudalsháls (coll. St.St.), in Patreks-
fjörður and Tálkni (coll. Kn. Jessen),
and in Gljúfurá in Skíðadalur and on
Úlfshryggar, N. (coll. St.St.).
P. radicatum is coramon or frequent
in most parts, except in S. where it is
only recorded from the country east of
Jökulsá, there, however, it is common.
From the interior highland, there are,
curiously enough no records, as far as I
know.
Life-form: H.
On gravelly flats and stony soil, especially
m the hills, but also in the lowlands; of-
ten in dried-up river-beds.
