The fronds of the Icelandic specimens are typical in form, while, on the other
hand, glands are very sparingly represented. The scales of the rachis and stalks
have only in a few individuals the dark middle vein characteristic of this species.
Only in the western parts of Icel., and in N. at Mývatn and in the country within
the Skjálfandi bay (see fig. 25).

In urðs, clefts and ravines in the lava, in copses, etc.
Max. height: 83 cm ; average : 45 cm.
