HITAMÆLINGAR í GEYSI 33 hvernig hitinn breytist, en ómögulegt er að teikna npp hitasveifl- urnar án sjálfritandi tækis. Til þess eru þær of hraðar. Einnig mætti mæla hraða „konveksjóns“-strauma í hvernum með því að liafa tvo eða fleiri hitamæla með nokkurra metra millibili. SUMMARY Tlie present article deals rvith some measurements o£ the temperature in the Great Geysir in Iceland. In these measuremcnts a thermistor made by the Bell Telephone I.ahoratories. U. S. A. was used as a tiiermometer. Its time of reaction is much shorter than for thc thermometers previously used for these measurements or about i/i sec. Figure 2 shows how the temperature varies at different depths and fig. 3 shows how tcmperature varies at 10 m. depth between two successive eruptions. Superheated water was found wiih a temperature at least 6 centigrades ahove liie boiling point. 3
