The International Headache Society
Headache research fellowship
Effective January 1,1998
The International Headache Society (IHS) and Glaxo Wellcome are sponsoring an one
year international research fellowship relating to the study of headache and its
treatment. Suggested areas of training include the neurochemistry, pharmacology,
physiology and neuroimaging of bloodvessels and brain, as these disciplines impact on
the clinical problem of headache. Intergration of basic and clinical sciences is encour-
aged.
Grant
The stipend for 12 months will be US$ 50,000,-, including travel expenses. Supple-
mentation from other sources is permitted.
Eligibility
Applicants (< 35 yr) with MD or PhD.
Application
Submit 12 copies of the following:
1. Research proposal (including background, specific aims, rationale, brief methodo-
logy, significance) not to exceed 5 typewritten pages.
2. Letter of support form sponsoring laboratory director.
3. Letter of recommendation. Curriculum Vitae with full bibliography.
4. Letter of intent by the department chairman, stating that the applicant, after comple-
tion of fellowship, will continue to work in his department on headache research
(optional).
Deadline and address
All applications and supporting materials must be received by August 15, 1997. The
decision of the Scientific Committee will be communicated by November 1, 1997, and
announced in Cephalalgia, the official journal of the IHS.
